The handyman who “does it all”

Beware the handyman who “does it all”. Some trades are licensed for a reason.

We’re not here to give you legal advice, but consider this:

  • If you hire a person to do electrical or plumbing work on your house, and they are not licensed to do so, what do you think the chances are that they are insured in the event that they make a mistake?

  • Who is liable when YOU hire an unlicensed trade?

Some people like to live on the edge or outside of the rules if they think they can save some money in the process, but it’s our opinion at Little Lifts that a decision like that can prove to be more costly than expected. It’s not like going to an unlicensed hairdresser and saying “I can just wear a hat for a few weeks if it doesn’t work out…”, you can’t grow out of an electrical deficiency or a plumbing leak.

Even if your painter or drywaller or all-around fix-it-guy is super smart and knowledgable, remember this: they should be smart enough to know that performing unlicensed work is not only against the law, it’s unethical.
